General
About Phonix Pay
No. Phonix Pay is not a phone shop.
Phonix Pay works with approved retailers who provide phones to customers. The retailer supplies the phone, while Phonix Pay helps manage the financing process, payment tracking, documents, and customer account experience.
Phonix Pay helps customers access smartphones without paying the full amount upfront.
It also helps retailers manage installment-based phone sales more professionally by keeping customer records, payment schedules, receipts, contracts, and device records organized in one platform.
Getting a phone
How customers start a financing plan
The process is simple:
- You visit or contact an approved retailer.
- You choose an available smartphone.
- The retailer creates your customer financing account.
- You review the phone price, deposit, installment amount, payment cycle, and repayment schedule.
- You accept the required documents.
- The phone is prepared and handed over.
- You make payments according to your schedule.
- When you finish paying, your plan is marked completed.
Yes. With Phonix Pay, approved retailers allow customers to pay a deposit and settle the remaining balance through installments.
The final approval, phone availability, deposit amount, and repayment terms depend on the retailer and the specific phone selected.
Phone availability depends on the approved retailer.
Retailers may offer brands such as Samsung, Tecno, Infinix, Redmi, and other supported smartphone models. Available models, prices, deposits, and repayment options may vary by retailer.
Yes, you can choose from the phones available at the approved retailer.
The retailer will confirm the phone model, price, deposit, repayment schedule, and whether the phone is eligible for financing.
In most cases, yes. The retailer needs to confirm your identity, select the device, explain the payment plan, complete the required documents, and prepare the phone for handover.
Some retailers may also begin the process online or by phone before you visit the shop.
Customer requirements
Information needed before handover
You may be asked to provide:
- Full name
- Phone number
- Address
- Emergency contact information
- Passport picture
- Ghana Card or other valid ID information
- Preferred payment cycle
- Signature or document consent
The exact requirements may depend on the retailer, phone value, financing terms, and customer risk review.
Identity information helps the retailer create the correct customer account, prepare the contract, prevent fraud, verify ownership records, and support payment or device issues.
It also helps ensure that the phone, contract, and repayment schedule are correctly linked to you.
An emergency contact helps the retailer reach someone connected to you if you become unreachable during the repayment period.
An emergency contact is not automatically a guarantor unless they separately agree to act as one.
A guarantor may be required for some customers, high-value phones, or specific retailer policies.
If a guarantor is required, the retailer will explain the requirement before the contract is completed.
Payments
How repayments and receipts work
Payments can be made through the supported payment options provided by the retailer and Phonix Pay.
Where available, customers can pay through Mobile Money or other supported digital payment channels. Payment options may vary depending on the retailer and the active payment setup.
Yes, where supported. Phonix Pay supports payment workflows that can allow customers to pay through Mobile Money using the available payment channel.
The payment must be confirmed before your account balance is updated.
Yes. Confirmed payments can generate receipts or payment records.
You can view your payment history and receipts through the customer app or through the retailer, depending on the available setup.
Your repayment schedule shows your due dates.
The customer app may also show your next due date, installment amount, balance, and payment status. You may receive reminders before or on your payment due date.
Yes. You may be able to pay ahead or clear your balance early.
Once your full balance is confirmed as paid, your financing account can be marked completed and your completion documents can be made available.
Partial payments may be accepted depending on the retailer's payment rules and your financing agreement.
A partial payment may reduce your outstanding balance, but it may not always stop overdue action unless the minimum required amount has been paid.
If your payment does not reflect, contact your retailer or Phonix Pay support with your payment proof.
Useful details include:
- Payment reference
- Amount paid
- Payment date
- Mobile Money confirmation message
- Phone number used for payment
- Customer name
- Contract or account ID, if available
The payment will be reviewed and updated if confirmed.
Repayment plans
Understanding deposits, cycles, and balances
Repayment options may include daily, every two, three, or four days, and weekly payments, depending on the retailer and the phone selected.
The repayment cycle, installment amount, and term will be shown before you accept the agreement.
Yes. Before accepting a financing plan, you should see:
- Phone price
- Deposit amount
- Remaining balance
- Installment amount
- Payment cycle
- Total payable amount
- Due dates
- Expected completion period
You should review these details before accepting the contract.
The repayment term depends on the phone price, deposit, installment amount, and retailer's available plan options.
Some phones may have shorter repayment terms, while others may allow longer terms.
A deposit is the amount you pay upfront before receiving the phone.
The remaining balance is then paid through installments according to the agreed repayment schedule.
Your outstanding balance is the amount you still need to pay to complete your phone financing plan.
As payments are confirmed, your outstanding balance reduces.
Documents and agreements
Contracts, schedules, receipts, and notices
You may receive documents such as:
- Customer financing agreement
- Repayment schedule
- Device management notice
- Payment default and restriction policy
- Warranty terms
- Device handover certificate
- Receipts
- Completion certificate after full payment
The documents available to you depend on your financing plan and retailer setup.
Your documents may be available inside the Phonix Pay customer app or through your retailer.
Documents can include your agreement, repayment schedule, receipts, and completion certificate.
Yes. Some documents may require your signature or acknowledgement before the phone is handed over.
These documents explain your payment terms, device details, customer responsibilities, and other important conditions.
Some financed phones may include device management features during the active repayment period.
The notice explains how the device may be supported, managed, or restricted according to your agreement. You should read and understand this notice before accepting the phone.
Device and account status
Missed payments, restrictions, and sync delays
Yes. The customer experience is designed to let you view your account status, payment schedule, balance, receipts, and documents.
This helps you know what has been paid, what is outstanding, and when the next payment is due.
If you miss a payment, you may receive reminders or overdue notices.
If the payment remains overdue after the grace period, restrictions may apply according to your signed agreement and the retailer's policy.
A grace period is the extra time given after your payment due date before stronger action may happen.
For example, if your payment is due today and your grace period is two days, you have two extra days to make the payment before the next action applies.
If your payment is still unpaid after the grace period, the action stated in your agreement may apply.
This may include additional reminders, retailer follow-up, or phone restrictions depending on your financing terms.
Once your payment is confirmed, your account status can be updated.
If your phone was restricted because of overdue payment, access can be restored after payment confirmation and device sync.
There may be a delay if:
- The payment has not yet been confirmed.
- The phone is offline.
- The payment reference is missing or incorrect.
- The device has not synced yet.
- The payment provider has not sent confirmation.
- There is a payment dispute or reversal.
Contact your retailer or support if the issue continues.
Device support
Lost phones, stolen phones, faults, and warranty
Contact your retailer or Phonix Pay support as soon as possible.
Depending on your agreement and the supported device features, recovery or support actions may be available.
Report the issue to your retailer immediately.
Your repayment responsibility and next steps will depend on your agreement, warranty terms, and retailer policy.
Contact your retailer for support.
Warranty coverage depends on the phone, retailer, manufacturer warranty, and the terms provided at the time of sale.
No. Warranty usually does not cover every type of damage.
Damage caused by water, falls, misuse, unauthorized repairs, or physical damage may not be covered. The exact warranty terms depend on the retailer and device.
Completing payment
What happens when the plan is fully paid
When your full payment is confirmed, your financing plan is marked completed.
You may receive:
- Final receipt
- Completion certificate
- Ownership or release confirmation
- Updated account status
- Released device status, where applicable
No. Once your plan is fully paid and marked completed, payment reminders for that plan should stop.
Yes. A completion certificate or final receipt may be available through the customer app or retailer.
Retailers
